Carbon Emissions

Carbon emissions refer to the release of carbon dioxide (CO2) gas into the atmosphere, primarily as a result of human activities such as the burning of fossil fuels (like coal, oil, and natural gas) for energy, transportation, and industry. These emissions are a significant contributor to climate change and global warming, as CO2 is a greenhouse gas that traps heat in the Earth’s atmosphere. Carbon emissions are often measured in metric tons and are a key factor in assessing an individual, company’s, or country’s carbon footprint. Reducing carbon emissions is a critical goal for promoting environmental sustainability and mitigating climate impact. Various strategies, such as transitioning to renewable energy sources, enhancing energy efficiency, and promoting carbon capture technologies, are employed to decrease these emissions and address climate-related challenges.
