Energy Resources

Energy resources refer to the natural substances or phenomena that can be harnessed to produce energy. These resources are categorized into renewable and non-renewable types.

Renewable energy resources are those that are replenished naturally over short periods. Examples include solar energy, which comes from sunlight; wind energy, generated by the movement of air; hydroelectric energy, produced by water flow; geothermal energy, sourced from the Earth’s internal heat; and biomass, derived from organic materials.

Non-renewable energy resources, on the other hand, are finite and take millions of years to form. They include fossil fuels such as coal, oil, and natural gas, which are derived from ancient organic matter, as well as nuclear energy, which is produced through the fission of uranium or other radioactive elements.

The extraction and consumption of energy resources play a critical role in powering economies, shaping technologies, and influencing environmental policies. The ongoing transition towards more sustainable energy resources aims to reduce the impact of energy consumption on the environment and combat climate change.
