Hydrogen

Hydrogen is a chemical element with the symbol H and atomic number 1. It is the lightest and most abundant element in the universe, primarily occurring in stars, including the sun, where it undergoes nuclear fusion to form helium. Hydrogen is a colorless, odorless, and tasteless gas at room temperature and standard pressure.

In terms of chemical properties, hydrogen is a non-metal and exists as diatomic molecules (H₂) in its natural state. It is highly reactive and can form compounds with most elements, playing a crucial role in numerous chemical reactions, including combustion. Hydrogen is essential for life, being a major component of water (H₂O) and organic molecules.

On Earth, hydrogen can be found in various forms, primarily bound in water, hydrocarbons, and other organic compounds. It has potential applications as a clean energy source, particularly in fuel cells and as a fuel for vehicles, due to its high energy content and the fact that its combustion produces only water as a byproduct.
