Hydrogen-Powered Vehicles

Hydrogen-powered vehicles are automobiles that utilize hydrogen as a primary fuel source to power their engines through a process called fuel cell technology. In these vehicles, hydrogen gas reacts with oxygen from the air in a fuel cell to produce electricity, which then powers an electric motor. The only byproducts of this reaction are water vapor and heat, making hydrogen vehicles an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional fossil fuel-powered vehicles.

Hydrogen-powered vehicles can be categorized mainly into two types: hydrogen fuel cell vehicles (FCVs), which use fuel cells to convert hydrogen into electricity, and hydrogen internal combustion engine vehicles, which burn hydrogen in an engine similar to traditional gasoline engines. While hydrogen offers potential for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and reliance on oil, challenges such as production, storage, and distribution of hydrogen fuel, along with infrastructure development for refueling stations, remain significant hurdles to widespread adoption.
